Trauma-Informed Care for Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders
This continuing education training is designed for mental health counselors seeking to deepen their understanding and application of trauma-informed care in working with individuals experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs). We will explore how trauma can influence the onset, severity, and presentation of PMADs, and equip counselors with evidence-based, culturally responsive approaches to create safe, supportive, and empowering therapeutic environments. We will emphasize recognizing signs of the trauma in the perinatal period, developing collaborative treatment plans, and integrating somatic, cognitive, and relational interventions.
